Emmi-Riikka Vartiainen (b. 1990) is an illustrator and graphic designer hailing from the small town of Juankoski. Emmi-Riikka graduated from Lahti Institute of Design in 2013. She has worked as a magazine layout designer, graphic designer for an ad agency and as a creative director, while doing versatile illustration work on the side. She works mainly digitally, but also paints and draws traditionally or mixes the techniques. Subjects related to nature, people, fantasy, history and mysteries of the mind interest her. As an illustrator Emmi-Riikka is very precise, and she pays passionate attention to even the littlest detail. The versatile illustration style ranges from stylized infographics to rich imagery, and she has provided illustrations for editorial, packaging, campaigns, web and done or collaborated in animation. Recognizeable shape language, friendly characters and beautiful color palettes are her trademark, and presentative subjects are characteristic to her style.
